         At the Airport

A: Our plane is supposed to leave at 2:10 and it’s already 2:20. There seems to be some delay.

B: That’s our flight they’re announcing over the loudspeaker now. Flight 620---now boarding for Los Angeles. Gate 14. Where did I put my boarding pass?

A: It’s right there in your pocket. Don't worry. We’ve checked in. we’ve got out seats in the No Smoking Section. It’s going to be a very pleasure flight.

B: I’m a little nervous. I’ve never flown before.

A: There’s nothing at all to worry about. Once you’re up in the air, it’s just like sitting at home in your own living room.

Attention: Fasten your seabelts, please. Welcome to Flight 620 now departing for Los Angeles. We will arrive at 4:47 local time, and we’ll be flying at an altitude of thirty-five thousand feet.

B: What’s the idea of the seatbelts?

A: You’re supposed to fasten yourself firmly to your seat in case of an accident. Otherwise you may be thrown against the seat in front and injured.

B: And if the plane catches fire, I won’t be able to get our either.

A: Nothing like that ever happens.

B: What’s that terrible noise?

A: Those are the engines. We’re about to take off. Look! We’re starting. Isn’t it thrilling? Now we’re leaving the ground. We’re already in the air. Look down below and see how New York looks from the air.

A: 我们的飞机应在两点十分起飞，而现在是两点二十。看来是有事耽搁了。

B: 现在扩音器里呼叫的正是我们的航班。620航班现在在14号闸门登机，准备飞往洛杉矶。我的登记证放在那里了？

A: 就在你的口袋里。不要着急。我们已办好登机手续。我们的座位在非抽烟区。这将是一次非常愉快的飞行。

B: 我有一点紧张。我从未坐过飞机。

A: 没有什么可担心的。一升到空中你就像坐在自己家里的客厅里一样。

服务员：请寄上座带。欢迎你们乘坐620班机，现在起飞前往洛杉矶。我们将于当地时间四点四十七分到达，我们的飞行高度为三万五千英尺。

B: 系座带是什么意思？

A: 按规定你应把自己牢牢系在座位上，以防发生意外。否则你可能会摔离座位撞到前面座位上受伤。

B: 如果飞机失火，那我也就不能跑开了。

A: 这样的事从来未发生过。

B: 这可怕的响声时怎么回事？

A: 这是发动机的声音。我们就要飞走了。瞧，我们起动了。多么令人兴奋呀。现在我们离开地面了。我们已升入空中。你往下瞧，看看从空中看纽约是什么样子。
