3、Feature Story: Title: The exhibition Kafkanistan
Cue: When we talk about Afghanistan, many people first think about the conflicts that plague the country and its surrounding region. But different realities could exist beyond the surface.
Kafkanistan is a world created by Austrian artist Lukas Birk and Irish ethnographer Sean Foley based on their explorations in tourism to Afghanistan and its neighbouring countries.
Let’s join Lay Ming as she attends the opening of the exhibition Kafkanistan – tourism to Afghanistan at Anni Art in the Beijing 798 Art District.
4、Bruce in Beijing 24 Jun
Thai Pavilion overlooks enchanting lake
Yesterday Bruce was introducing us to the attractions around the West gate of the Chaoyang Park - an area totally different to the ‘fun fair’ filled south end. Bruce mentioned there was a Thai Pavilion there - today we walk towards that pavilion, but first we see some of the statues and the attractions around the long fountain corridor - there is even a statue of the famous musical composer Mozart. Passing the amazing Rubik cube styled snack bar Bruce walks up a hill towards a traditional Thai pavilion - this represents many long years of friendship between China and Thailand. It looks just like pavilions Bruce has seen in Bangkok.
He then walks down to the lake where there is a beautiful circular area shaded by great white sails - just like a giant sailing ship. At this lovely spot people gently perform Tai Chi.
