Turandot was left unfinished by Puccini at his death in 1924. The opera is composed of 3 acts without a sequel. And in March, 2008 a new version of Turandot with asequel by Chinese composer Weiya Hao made its world premiere in the National Centre for the Performing Arts, which made a cultural sensation in the musical and operal field. Now this new version ofturandot will again be put on stage at NCPA.

Opera Turandot is a story about a Chinese Princess who is asbeautiful as the sun but cold as ice. The plot is based on a legend about Turandot,an empress whose heart will be conquered only by thebrave man who can solve three riddles for her. If the suitor fails inthe attempt, he must die. Prince Calaf, who arrives in Peking and isenchanted by her beauty, is determined to accept Turandot' challenge.His efforts are crowned with success, yet the cunning Princess decidesto kill the Prince if she can find out his name by dawn. The slave Liuis captured, who in order to save Calaf, reveals that she is the onlyone who knows the Prince's name. Liu's selfless death and Calaf's kissmakes the ruler's heart waken.
