Olympic Road Report ! (2008-08-22 pm)
The closing ceremony of the 29th Olympic Games will be held in the National Stadium at 8pm Sunday. From 1:30pm, traffic restrictions will be in place around Olympic Central Area and connecting roads section by section.
Men’s marathon competition will be held on Sunday morning. The marathon will begin at Tian'anmen Square and end at the National Stadium.
From 6:30am, Qianmen East Station, roads around Tiananmen Square will be under traffic restrictions according to the progression of the competition.
Runners will start from the East Side Road of Tiananmen Square, via East Chang’an Avenue, Taijichang Street, Qinian Street to enter the north gate of the Temple of Heaven.
They will run through the Temple of Heaven and then head to Yongdongmen East Street, Yongdingmen Nei Street, Qianmen Street and get back to Tiananmen area.
Then, they will continue via West Chang’an Avenue to Naoshikou and further north to Pingan Street. Runners will go from Pingan Street to the west to reach Capital Stadium South Road and then head north to reach Zhongguancun No. 1 Overpass via Zhongguancun South Street. They will run from Zhongguancun No.1 Overpass to the west to reach Haidian Overpass and enter the southwest gate of Peking University via Summer Palace Road. The runners will traverse the beautiful campuses of Peking University and Tsinghua University to reach the west gate of the National Stadium via Zhongguancun East Road, Zhichun Road, Beitucheng West Road and Beichen Road.
In order to ensure the smooth progress of the event, traffic restrictions will be in place section by section. Traffic management bureau will update the time and location of the restrictions and diversion routes on the outdoor information boards. Please pay attention to the traffic updates and make your travel plans accordingly.

Some sections of the Olympic special lanes have completed their official mission since the 20th. Starting from today, the section from Shangqing Overpass to Xiguan Rounabout on Badaling Expressway is open to private cars.
Starting from the 24th, the section from Laiguangying Overpass to the east entrance of Shunyi Olympic Rowing and Canoeing Park via Jingcheng Expressway and Baima Road is open to private cars. Since some sections of the Olympic special lanes will remain in use for the service of the Paralympic games, the markings in that lane will not be erased for the time being.
As many events have come to an end and many athletes are leaving Beijing, the airport expressway has witnessed some traffic increase. Private cars heading to the airport can choose Yaojiayuan Road or Pingfang Overpass of East Fifth Ring Road to get to Airport No. 2 Expressway. Recently, many visitors from around China are also leaving Beijing. Traffic congestion was reported in both directions in the north square of West Railway Station. Please choose Guanganmenwai street to avoid traffic jam.
